New Awning

Remember back in July when I wrote about the Big Hailstorm and then a couple of days later I had a blog post on the Hail Damage?  Well we finally got us a new awning August 25th.  It really was an easy process with contacting our insurance company, getting a local estimate, having an insurance adjuster come out from Durango and then a check arrived.  Took a little over a month.  Poor insurance adjuster had to drive five hours out here and five hours back for a 15 minute visit on top of our roof.

Here’s the damaged awning with all the spider web-like rips from the hail stones.

Matt Harris, from our local A-1 Mobile RV Services, had everything ordered and installed quickly.  Matt is a super competent, extremely ethical and reasonably priced RV service specialist.  We are so lucky he works in the area and is available to us.  Matt works out of South Fork Campground which our buds, Rich and Terri Deacon, manage.  So Matt brought Rich along to help him install the new awning.

Here is a collage of the process of taking down the old awning and threading on the new one. Yes, they are identical awnings….only one doesn’t have any holes in it.  Oh, yes, that is me helping to thread it on.

All done in about three hours for the whole process and doesn’t it look nice?

Thank you Matt and Rich for all your hard work.

So we are happy campers again with the rig all fixed up and looking good again.
