Ball Gown Shopping

First thing in the morning we had to bid goodbye to Maryann and Bill Parham.  They are on to Texas.  We will miss Maryann’s graciousness and Bill’s crazy wit.

Betty has planned a Mardi Gras Ball for February and encouraged formal wear….but with a touch of zaniness. It will be held in a nearby hall and we’ll have a band, to boot.  There are three of us who will be here for Mardi Gras next year but all the ladies wanted to go and help out. We didn’t want to wait till everyone was out looking for Mari Gras garb, so it was time for the ladies to drive to New Iberia to check out the resale shops for ball gowns. First stop was Goodwill where we surprisingly found a pretty good selection….but mostly smaller sizes.

Then on to The Arc nearby where we looked through another 30-40 gowns and Merlene found her gown and for $3.

We had also been looking for some “Porter Wagoner” type jackets for the guys but only found “normal” suits.

I commandeered a customer to try out a jacket for Jim.

We found a purple jacket as well and bought them all.  If they didn’t fit our husbands they would work for someone coming to the ball. The jackets were $3 each and I paid $6 cause Jim’s was a suit…yea, there was silver pants to go with that jacket.  We even found three “loud” ties to complete the men’s outfits.

By now it was 11:30 and we drove to Duffy’s Diner for lunch.  What a fun place with lots of Coke memorabilia all around.

Oh, Mardi Gras is going to be even a bigger blast than usual with this bunch.

Remember, you are loved.
