Knitting Projects

The old knitting needles have been flying lately.  I like to read my Kindle during the day, but at night I need to keep my fingers busy so I usually knit while watching TV.

I finished up the scarf set to be auctioned off at our Class of 2007 Fifth Reunion in Quartzsite later this month.

Lory's Shawl (1)

Last week I finished a prayer shawl for my dear friend, Lory, who is battling cancer again.  She’s worn out the one I made her for her first bout of breast cancer, so I made her another one and got it mailed off yesterday. The Lion’s Homespun Yarn is very soft and comes in beautiful variegated colors.

I also finally found the right button to finish off the cowl I made to go along with the hat I knitted last year.  The cost of a button is outrageous.  At Joann’s they wanted from $3.00 to $7.00 for a single two inch button.  Finally found a novelty one for $1.75

Yes, I do so love purple and red together.

Remember, you are loved.

  1. Button Tip: Shop the thrift stores and rummage sales for buttons. You can find some wonderful vintage ones in jars. But if you really want some fun, go through the blouses and dresses when they have a dollar a bag sale. Stuff everything you find with great buttons in the bag no matter how ugly the clothing. Then use the buttons for your knitting and the fabric for other crafts or even rags.

  2. That's a great idea, Marcie. I'll give it a try.
