Jasper, Texas Azalea Festival

Jasper,TX (2)

Saturday we got up and going real early to attend the Azalea Festival in Jasper around the town square..  Kind of a disappointment though.  There were a lot of booths set up, but they were mostly of organizations with information, churches with fund raisers, etc.

There was an interesting full-sized sculpture in the square of a man reading a newspaper.

Also I got my first real look at a blue bonnets

But there was also a car show.

Then we went to breakfast at Debi’s House of Waffle.  The waitress, Tandy, was a real kick.  One of those sassy, talk-back-to-you kind of gal.  She and Jim M. had a ball teasing each other and jawing back and forth.  Tandy had some interesting tats, including ones on both her ear lobs of tiger lilies.  Thanks, Tandy, for a memorable breakfast!

Might as well throw this into today’s post also.  Jim was getting ready to move from one site to another here at Mill Creek CG and all of a sudden there was this little frog on the tailgate.  He hopped on Jim’s arm and he was able to walk around with it and show it off.  Pretty cute!

At our third and final site move here we are without satellite TV reception. So we have been four days without TV.  I think this is the longest we’ve ever gone without TV.  I’ve been reading my Kindle.  Jim has played a lot of solitaire on the computer and checking out several routes to Colorado on the TomTom.  We’ve listened to news and music on our XM satellite radio and watched several movies for the third and fourth time, plus some Diners, Drive-Ins and Dives shows we had recorded.  It’s been OK, but certainly different for us…I rather have TV reception.

Remember, you are loved.

  1. It appears that Jim has found a friend. Animals have a sense about things like that! I will be interesting to read of Jim's decision on a route to Colorado.
