Trip to South Fork

We drove up to South Fork to visit Rich and Terri Deacon who manage the South Fork Campground.  They were moving in for the summer,  setting up their office and cleaning up the campsites from the winter debris.

We decided to have lunch at a new restaurant in South Fork called Ramon's.  For Alamosans, Ramon's took the place of the Swiss Chalet. It is definitely worth the trip to South Fork to enjoy the fare Ramon's has to offer.

The decor is upscale and sophisticated but with very reasonable prices.

Here is the server's tray with our meals.  The food was very tasty but not very kick.

Here is my shrimp dish with sauteed onions and green peppers in a savory sauce.  The homemade refried beans were great.  We will definitely return.

Look at our happy faces...

On the way home we saw a herd of buffaloes enjoying the mild weather.

It was so nice to see Rich and Terri again.  We are sad we will not be seeing them much this summer.  Rich has such a good sense of humor and he had us in stitches relaying stories of his winter job of delivering propane in the area.  There were a lot of episodes with animals from over welcoming Rottweilers to charging chickens...a lot of chicken stories.

Remember, you are loved.

  1. Glad to hear there is a new restaurant in South Fork. Restaurants seem to have a hard time staying in business there. I will miss getting to visit with you guys when I get back there in about a month.

  2. Did you get up to the Big Meadow campground?

  3. Your photos are lovely. Thank you so much for sharing.

I really enjoy reading comments so please take a moment and say HI or something so I know someone is reading this thing.
