As many of you know, Jim and I have spent our summers in South Fork, Colorado, as area managers for seven national forest campgrounds in the Rio Grande National Forest, working for concessionaires, American Land and Leisure (AL&L).
We recently found out that the Rio Grande National Forest will be operated by a different concessionaire. So we have accepted the position of Regional Managers for Colorado with AL&L. We will be working out of Stillwater Campground about eight miles from Granby, Colorado, west of the Boulder/Golden area.
We will leave Abbeville a week early to attend a regional managers meeting in Orem, Utah, the first of April. We really didn’t want to drive the rig all the way to Utah (still snowing there this week). We’ll drive to the Albuquerque area, leave our rig and Poncho with friends and fly to Salt Lake City for four days.
When we return we’ll visit with our daughters, grandchildren and hopefully, a new great granddaughter for a couple of days and then drive up to Alamosa, Colorado, for the rest of the month.
Jim will attend a class to renew his water testing certification in Pueblo for a couple of days early May and then we’ll drive to northern Colorado for the summer.
We are sad we’ll miss seeing many of our repeat campers this summer in South Fork. Many have become personal friends after seven years of camphosting. We’re also sad not to see how Big Meadows Campground renovations came out, as it will reopened this summer. Maybe some of you will decide to come visit us at Stillwater Campground….we’d love to see familiar faces.
Remember, you are loved.
