That's a eight pound roast there.
Jim cooked it to perfection....medium rare. I did have a little bite and it was very tender and flavorful.
Wayne over on the left took the place of the Keelings in Tucker Ponds, as they had to leave when Paul couldn't get rid of an annoying cough. Come to find out he has whooping cough and is finally getting some relief after a long diagnosis period.
Afterwards we all spent time relaxing and chatting about our summer season. We won't be meeting again before the end of the season, so we all talked about our winter plans. Happily they will all be coming back next summer.
We've had a really good summer. We are sad that Jerry and Rita had to leave early so Rita could get her shoulder worked on...we miss them so! And then the Keelings had to leave, but good ole Fred took up the slack and ran three campgrounds himself...bless his heart!
Next summer we will be back to Big Meadows....anyone want to spend next summer living next to Jim and I and be camphosts in Big Meadows? It will be all new having been closed for a three year reconstruction. We're excited to see all the new campsites.
We have one more big holiday weekend ahead of us and then a few days to close everything down and we are out of here. Weather is getting colder at night; already have had eight inches of snow on Wolf Creek last week. Trees and bushes are beginning to turn yellow, so it is time to think about moving out.
After Labor Day Week we'll move to Alamosa for about a month so Jim can attend his high school reunion the end of September. In the meantime we'll visit our kids in Santa Fe and mid-October we'll take off for Oklahoma/Texas area.
That's it for today. Remember, you are loved.
Wow, snow already in Colorado! I can only dream of maybe cooler temperatures and a sprinkle or two here in Texas but I am happy to have some relief from the heat.
ReplyDeleteSounds like you had another great season camp hosting in the mountains. Thanks for sharing will us.
My wife Kay and I{Jeff}met Jan and Chuck last summer in Wyoming"s Big Horn Mtns. We have been following there blog and there friend's blogs. We especially like yours, for content and the feeling you put into it! We are going full time mid October and staying 2 months near Brownsville ,Tx and then our plans will be put in placefor the coming year. Hope to meet you both!! You both are very special people. Hugs, Jeff and Kay
ReplyDeleteDo your camp host sites have hook-ups? Where in Oklahoma will you be? I live at Perry- 60 miles north of OKC!
ReplyDeleteNo...the most we can offer our camphosts is a sewer, except at Big Meadows which will have a real water faucet and a sewer/vault at their campsite. Our campgrounds are outside of South Fork, Colorado, NOT Oklahoma.
DeleteYou'll be in the neghborhood for ABQ Balloon Fiesta. Terri and Rich Deacon are joining us again so come on down. Jim and Nancy were with us last year so you can tell ABQ stories when you see them at Betty's. We need to get to Berry's sometime. Sounds like a lot of fun.
ReplyDeleteHave loved following your Blog this summer and reading about the activities in your lovely corner of Colorado. We aure have fond memories of that area! Hugs to you and Jim, J&C
ReplyDeleteI understand where your campgrounds are- I was referencing the statement that you are going to be driving to Oklahoma soon and that is where we live. We enjoy Colorado and want to be camp hosts some time in the future bit I don't know how well I could do without hook-ups for an extended time. Sometimes I am not sure I could do without until utilities more than a few days at a time.
ReplyDeleteOops, sorry for the misunderstanding. We'll probably drive through the OK panhandle and visit one of our camphost who live in Bartlesville, OK. Then we'll "vacation" in Lake Texoma in Cartwright, OK for a couple of weeks before starting our gate guard job in south Texas.
DeleteBartlesville is a nice town. I hope you get to see or have seen Woolaroc and Frank Phillips house! Enjoy and have safe travels!
