Last Day of Gate Guarding

Our replacements arrived an hour early last Sunday. Roy Rodgers and his wife, Barbara.  Jim had relieved me at 3 a.m. so I could get a little sleep and then stay up all day and go to bed that night to start a normal schedule again.  Thankfully I was up and dressed when they arrived at 9 a.m.

I worked the gate while Jim hooked up and pulled out and then while the Rodgers set up.  We then gave them our gate notes, much of which they didn’t need since they have gate guarded before.  By 11 a.m. we pulled out and parked at the Whitsett yard for the night.

We stopped at Rita and Jerry’s gate to visit for a couple of hours and confirm when they will be coming to Colorado….they are going to be camphosts with us this summer.  We are so happy to be having them close by all summer. We are going to have some good times together.

Then we went and found the Mossman’s at their new gate.  I feel sorry for them because they are right by the oil rig…I mean like a couple hundred feet away.

The company man sits in one of those huts about 30 feet in the air and controls the whole operation by computer…amazing.

We CIMG9686watched as they used a crane to lined up a coil tubing apparatus.

On the way back to the yard I took some photos of oil related machinery, etc..

Excess gas being turned off. At night it’s neat to see many across the flat land.

Last Monday we took off south heading for Port Aransas, staying at the Pioneer Beach RV Resort.  Happily our friends, Mick and Peggy Barnes are workamping there and can show us around.

Remember, you are loved.
