Last Friday we had the treat of welcoming Escapee RV Club Boomers, Gloria and Charlie Goss to Davis Bayou Campground. Gloria had emailed me since she read we were in the area and they were traveling through Ocean Springs, MS, on their way to Florida.
After settling in they came over to share happy hour with us. Luckily the sun was shining so we could sit outside.
I knew their name sounded familiar but as soon as I saw Gloria I knew where we had met….amazon.com in Coffeyville, KS 2009. We worked together on nights in the Receiving Department. This year The Goss’s worked amazon.com’s Fernley, Nevada plant and really enjoyed it there.
Since everyone pictured above had all worked at amazon.com this year, we had a lot to talk about and compare facilities. We might look at Fernley this year as it would be a lot closer to Colorado, they pay $11 a hour, but this year in Fernley you had to pay for your own electricity although your camp site, water and sewer were paid for. Since we want to go back to Arizona next winter, Nevada might be a good choice. But it all depends on whether Fernley makes overtime mandatory or not. We’re hoping amazon.com standardize policies in their facilities and not have different policies in each place, maybe then there will be volunteer overtime in every facility, which is important to me as I just can’t work a lot of overtime. Hopefully with Jim going on social security next year we won’t have to work at amazon.com to make ends meet, but we’ll see. All plans are in Jell-O and can change.
Here’s the “formal” photo we took as Jim figured out how to use the camera’s timer…only had the camera 3 years and just finally found how to do it. We had to put the camera on a table to get the height need for the shot, but now we’ll get a tripod to use so I can be in more of the photos.
So here is Terri and Rich Deacon, me, Jim, Gloria and Charlie Goss and Jim and Linda Mossman…and, of course, Indy and Walker.
The Goss’s only stayed overnight and left Saturday morning. Short visit but a lot of fun.
Saturday morning Jim drove over to Tato-Nut Donut Shop in Ocean Springs that everyone had told us about…better than Krispy Kreme, they say…. oh, yes, they certainly are!!! They don’t have a website that I could find but take a look at what they offer.
They were delicious….reminded us of the old Spudnuts…absolutely “melt in your mouth” sensation.
Remember, you are loved.
