Betty’s RV Park-Abbeville, LA

We had all of a 45 minute trip from Cypress Bayou Casino to Abbeville. We arrived separately as Betty’s isn’t just small, it is tiny.  The whole park is literally her backyard and measures what, 200 feet by 200 feet?  She was having folks arrive so she can park them one right next to each other as they came in.  There certainly isn’t room to maneuver a rig between two others. She got 17 rigs parked and it is a tight fit, but we were still able to put out our awning to ward off the rain that fell.

We have all been happily anticipating our stay here at Betty’s.  We heard about Betty’s month long Mardi Gras gathering last February at the Parker 425 Race in Parker, AZ. We made our reservations right away along with the Mossman’s and Doyle’s.  We told the Deacon’s about it in May and they were able to get on the waiting list and then got notified in June they had a spot.  This is the first year Betty is requiring you stay the whole month as it sure makes it easier to schedule events without having rigs moving in and out during the month.  So we’ll get to know our “lot mates” pretty well in the next month.  Betty gave us a 14 page itinerary of activities and places to see.  There are so many parades scheduled we won’t be able to go to all of them.

After getting parked Terri, Linda and I went to do laundry as it had been two weeks.  The laundromat left a lot to be desired, but the clothes are clean at least.

I really enjoyed Betty’s design eye which is very eclectic and playful. The patio is full of signs and lots of decorative items.

Since it was raining we gathered in the inside community room for the daily 4:30 happy hour.  Betty made some delicious shrimp dip and pico de gallo. She said the local shrimp taste completely different from Gulf shrimp…seems they are sweeter. The shrimp season here is April through June and then again August through October. Although we won’t be here in time to try out the fresh shrimp, but we might get some frozen in Delcambre where the shrimp boats are moored to compare the taste.

Here are some photos of our gathering Wednesday.   See anyone you know?

After a pizza dinner out we made it a night.  Jim will have to fight with the satellite to get it tweaked in, so we are just watching the 29 local stations from the batwing.

Thursday is suppose to be cold and cloudy so we might just drive around  to get ourselves oriented to the area.

Remember, you are loved.
