The Gulf of Mexico states (LA, MS, AL, FL) are so close together you can travel between them in short order. So here we are in Florida and make arrangements to have lunch with Sal and Bobbie in Alabama. It was only 42 miles from Fort Pickens Campground to Foley, Alabama, so it was an easy trip to have lunch with friends.
It’s been two years since we’ve seen Bobbie and Sal….then it was January 2012 in Quartzsite, Arizona. Here we are at the Shrimp Basket. Sorry but no photos of our food…can you believe I forgot!!! Was enjoying the company too much.
After lunch we stopped at the Coleman Outlet store and picked up new grill plates…plus they were 40% off the clearance price.
We drove in a deluge of rain the whole day. But the rest of the week is suppose to be clear and sunny. That will be great to enjoy the beaches here in good weather. We still haven’t gone and looked at the fort at the end of the island.
Sweet Sandy cooked a wonderful white chili with chicken, green chiles and white and black beans. It was so delicious. I got a kick out of Sandy’s plastic wine glass. It’s a thermal glass with a wine glass inside. Looks very different.
Sandy is so in love with Poncho it is almost embarrassing. They kept Poncho for us yesterday while we went to Foley. As we arrived back to the campground I got a call from Sandy and she said “Poncho is taking a nap and he doesn’t want to be disturbed. I call you when he wakes up”. Oh, please!!!
Sandy gives Poncho treats all through the day…he must get 20 of them from her. Sandy’s excuse is that they are small or that they are healthy one this time. Jim and I give him a Milk Bone in the morning and at night, so having Sandy around is making her very popular with Poncho.
We barely can keep him in our rig…he wants to go to Sandy every chance he can. When Sandy and Charles come over in the evenings guess where Poncho sits?
Yeah, he knows where he gets the most treats. Plus Poncho is a lap dog that they enjoy cause Sandy and Charles have a Doberman.
It was a nice day visiting with friends all around.
Remember, you are loved.
