Space Center Houston

We left Betty’s RV Park in Abbeville, Louisiana, Thursday, March 6th and drove to Beaumont, staying at Hidden Lake RV Park.  On Saturday we and The Mossmans went to Space Center Houston….a Bucket List item for me.

To get there we had to drive over this interesting bridge.

We had purchased our Senior Tickets online for $16.95 each  and boy was it worth it.

When you enter you find a large circular room leading to numerous displays.  The movie  during Starship Gallery explained the history of space exploration…very interesting.  The displays were very well done.

We even got to touch a stone from the moon

We took a tram tour around the buildings where the current command center is located, plus the building were they are building the command center for the Orion space craft going to Mars.

Being that it was a Saturday we were able to see the actual command center not used on Saturdays.  Plus on a monitor we were able to see the current command center being used that day with a monitor in the background showing the astronauts currently on the international space station; they were teaching a science lesson for somewhere.

The end of the tram tour took us to Rocket Park were several rockets were anchored and also a huge building holding the Saturn 5 rocket.

The Saturn V is unbelievably huge!!!!!! I could hardly get the full length in the picture.

There is a lot of hands-on activities for kiddos and lots of educational displays for adults.

This was a live presentation showing life in space...  how you have to strap yourself in to use the toilet, sleep restraints and fixing meals.  Also the need to exercise two hours a day to maintain muscle mass.

We spent about 3 to 3 1/2 hours at the Space Center and really, really enjoyed it. Scratched off another item on my Bucket List.

As we were leaving they were painting one of the space shuttles positioned outside by the exit.

Remember, you are loved.
