Last Friday afternoon the forest service opened the road up to Tucker Ponds. So Jim and I took a drive up to see what the campground looked like. Here are a couple of photos up the road. That’s Highway 160 going west in the background.
The ponds were open for fishing and one of our campers in Park Creek CG said they caught a 15 inch rainbow trout that was a good 5 inches in diameter. That would be a good meal as the water is very cold and this is the first fishing of the season.
The campground is still pretty inaccessible because the inner road still has one large snow bank covering the road. The path to the rest room has 2-3 feet of snow on it.

We hope to be opened end of next week, but we’ll see. We have an annual Kid’s Fishing Tournament on June 18th and we get a lot of campers who come up for that, so we want to cleaned and ready for that.
Here’s a previous shot of one of the ponds last summer….great fishing. Tucker Ponds is handicap accessible with a walkway most the way around one of the ponds with a little fishing pier.
We are getting the extreme temperature changes now. Mornings can be 20-30* and then the highs will be high 70s or 80s. It is not uncommon to have 50 to 60* temperature swings in a day…hard on the body though.
Remember, you are loved.
Melt baby melt!
ReplyDeleteThe high winds should have change that snow into a memory pretty quickly.
