New Orleans-What a town!

Sit back and enjoy as this will be a long post.

We were going to tour New Orleans before we arrived at Betty’s RV Park in early February, but weather front came through and the temps dived down to highs of 40s with rain. Instead, we just hunkered down at Bayou Segnette State Park and ate shrimp…not a bad idea at any time actually!

Finally, last Thursday was our day to see New Orleans…yippee! We started out with cafe au lait and beignet at Cafe Du Monde, of course.

We walked across the street to Jackson Square. Wow…what a sight!

We wanted to see the Katrina Museum located on the square.The exhibit was very, very well done and well worth seeing.

The second floor of the Katrina Museum is the Mardi Gras Museum. Oh, what fun that was!

There were many artists, mimes and musicians around Jackson Square and throughout the streets.

He stayed so still and then ran after someone and scared them.	Lots of artists painting all day.
Streets are blocked for entertainers.	This lady was incredible!

Then it was time to walked around all the famous streets. We were surprised how clean all the streets were being only two days after Mardi Gras. There were a large amount of beer trucks making deliveries…no doubt replenishing the supply used during Mardi Gras.

Soon it was time for Pat O’Brien’s to be opened, and that meant Hurricanes! We were lucky to be seated outside in their patio. The Hurricanes are too sweet for me so I had a Bloody Mary.

Then it was time for lunch and that meant The Gumbo Shop as Linda loves their jambalaya.  It was a beautiful restaurant, although I wasn’t too impressed with the food.

After lunch we walked around the French Market which reminded a lot of the Arizona Marketplace in Yuma.  We got good prices on all our souvenirs.

By then it was time to call it a day so we walked back to the truck by way of the waterfront, which is very pretty.
